GRACE CHURCH PHASE 2 CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Continuing the Vision
An addition and renovation plan to expand children’s space, nursery facilities, adult Bible study rooms, and church offices.
Why?
- Why are we proposing this?
- Why is this the right time?
- What exactly are we proposing?
- What is our investment plan for this project?
- We’ll address all these questions during today’s presentation.
PART 1: Why Are We Proposing This? The Spiritual Foundation
The Spiritual Catalyst
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. – Matthew 28:18-20 – The Great Commission
Our Unified Mandate
Grace Church exists to glorify our Heavenly Father by continually making more followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Glorifying the Father – Grace Church exists primarily to bring glory to our Heavenly Father. We do this by actively modeling Christ-centered lives and cultivating an atmosphere of authentic biblical stewardship.
- Making Disciples – Our call is to continually cultivate more followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. True discipleship requires structured mentoring, safe environments for children, and comfortable spaces to gather for community and Biblical instruction.
The 2017 Master Plan

A Complete Vision: In 2017, Grace Church mapped out an overarching campus design. The master plan clearly established a multi-phase trajectory that integrates our current facilities with a formal future sanctuary, church offices, expanded classrooms, and a high-capacity nursery wing.
Our long-term goals have never shifted; rather, we have steadily worked toward completing each section of the layout as God leads and provides resources.
Staged and Responsible Milestones
- Deferred Scope – During the initial building phases, we made the strategic, financially responsible decision to reduce the project scope. By focusing on immediate needs, we preserved capital and protected the church’s financial health during critical early milestones.
- Returning to the Blueprint – The original plan has always been to return and finish the full layout. Now, in Phase 2, we are executing on the deferred components—children’s spaces, adult conference rooms, and adding church offices—laying the groundwork for final completion in Phase 3 with our sanctuary.
Part 2: Why Is This The Right Time? The Opportunity For Growth
Subdivision Surges
Local Construction Upswing – The area surrounding Grace is seeing rapid growth. Significant housing developments are rising directly behind the church campus and further down Highway W, across from Menards.
A surge in local single-family homes means an influx of neighborhood children and adults. We must expand today to welcome these kids tomorrow.
Rising Number of Younger Families
Organic Word-of-Mouth Uptick – Our younger demographic is growing at an incredible rate. Scarcely a single Sunday passes without brand-new visiting families walking through our doors.
This growth is primarily organic: church members feeling inspired to invite neighbors, family, and colleagues. To sustain this beautiful momentum, our spaces must match our welcome.
Our last membership class set a record with 14 attendees! And just this morning 4 were baptized with an additional 5 newly inducted members!
What Draws Young Families?
| Engagement Driver | Barna Group Statistic* | Congregational Application |
| Children’s Programming | 58% of parents choose a church for kids’ offerings | Modernizing our nursery and kids’ wing is the direct key to parental trust. |
| Relational Discipleship | 57% of young adults value community over teaching style | Adding comfortable conference rooms creates space for rich small-group interaction. |
| Youth Social Ties | 87% of active teens stay due to church friends | Updated facilities set the stage for healthy childhood peer relationships. |

Sustaining Next-Gen Commitment…
Relational Hubs – Young families look for places where they can cultivate lasting friendships. Providing multi-purpose conference and Bible study rooms allows parents to gather and support each other while their children learn nearby.
Equipping Parents – Up-to-date environments give parents peace of mind, allowing them to engage fully in discipleship. We aren’t just babysitting; we are actively partnering with parents to form a solid spiritual foundation for the next generation.
Continuing to build relationships for our long time members!
Additional meeting rooms will open up more spaces for Bible studies, activities, and time together
Part 3: What Exactly Are We Proposing? Design & Program Scope
The Project Breakdown
Vibrant & Modern Facilities – Phase 2 focuses entirely on an active 5,000 sq ft addition seamlessly linked with a 1,400 sq ft renovation of our existing spaces.
This expands our classrooms, nursery, childcare areas, and team offices. The formal sanctuary will remain reserved for a future Phase 3 campaign.
The Three Strategic Wings
- Kids & Nursery – Vibrant, secure, and clean spaces where children can build lasting biblical foundations. Safe environments encourage regular attendance from new parents.
- Adult Discipleship – Dedicated conference spaces to hold Sunday Bible studies, specialized classes, and robust mid-week small groups to grow together in faith.
- Church & Outreach – Cohesive and modern church offices, plus a flexible layout to seamlessly host multi-generational events, enhancing our ministry efficiency.
We’re currently having studies offsite at Lynch Chevrolet, Millgate General Store, even the local McDonald’s!

The “2-for-1” Discipleship Model
Maximized Sunday Mornings – We are experiencing exciting participation in our Bible classes. Our strategic “2-for-1” model encourages families to attend one service and participate in a Bible study or group class during the other.
This dynamic schedule keeps people plugged into scripture and fellowship on Sunday mornings, but it requires highly functional, quiet, and well-designed classroom spaces.
A Welcoming Open Door with Church and Community Events
- 100+ Neighbors Monthly – Our commitment to outreach includes providing open, free-of-charge access to our facilities. Every month, well over 100 individuals from the surrounding Burlington community walk through our doors to connect and meet.
- Low-Barrier Bridge – This open-door service acts as a natural bridge to the community. These neighbors learn to see Grace Church as a safe, welcoming, and hospitable meeting place, paving the way for eventual spiritual conversations and invitations.
Our church is growing, our community is growing, our kids’ ministry is growing – we need to grow with it!
Part 4: What Is Our Investment Plan for this Project? Stewardship & Stewardship Metrics
Construction Investment Planning – Opportunistic Savings Whenever Possible

The local public and commercial build average of $300/sq ft sets our overall budget benchmark at $1.5M. This represents a solid conservative ceiling as we move into construction planning.
Prudent Investment Management
Ongoing Design Evaluations: As design blueprints are finalized, we will run continuous investment-benefit analyses. This ensures that every line item reflects clean, efficient stewardship of God’s provisions.
Internal Team Execution: Drawing from our successful Project 1A storage building experience, we will look to assign smaller, strategic tasks to our own skilled internal construction team.
Prudent Budget Buffers: By treating potential internal savings as an additional safety margin rather than a guaranteed budget reduction, we ensure the church does not over-commit financially.
Reliable Funding Channels
Pledges Backed by Competitive Local Bank Support – The core of our funding strategy will always rest on the deep, faithful generosity of the Grace Church family through our internal 3 year pledge campaign.
Thanks to our stellar credit and history, three local banks have proactively approached our leadership about partnering with competitive mortgage terms to easily manage any transitional financing gap.
Why?
Why are we proposing this? Because we feel it is necessary to effectively follow the Great Commission and the Grace mission statement to continually make more followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Why is this the right time? Because of the significant increases in local housing and increases in all categories of our attendance. Our church is growing, our community is growing, our kids’ ministry is growing – we need to grow with it!
What exactly are we doing? Adding a safe and segregated children’s wing as well as improved meeting rooms, classrooms, and office space.
What is our investment plan for this project? A capital campaign with 3 year commitments and a bank loan if needed, combined with continuous wants/needs and inhouse projects evaluations.
Partnering in Faith
Our journey to complete the Phase 2 facility plan is a collaborative step of faithful obedience.
